Metallography Contest
The contest showcases outstanding work by metallographers and microstructural analysts from metals and materials community. Interested delegates are invited to submit their entries under any one of the following categories:
- Light Microscopy
- Scanning Electron Microscopy
- Transmission Electron Microscopy
- Advanced Techniques (3D Tomography, APT, AFM, SPM, etc.)
The micrographs may be in colour or in black and white. Three prizes for best metallographs in each category will be awarded. Winners will be decided on the basis of micrograph clarity, technical content and the effective application of the characterization technique. Participants are advised to carefully select and mention the appropriate category while submitting their entries, as reclassification of entries will not be permitted later.

Metallography Contest Rules
- Only digitally captured images are permitted in all 4 categories
- No more than two entries per individual (or team) per category will be accepted.
- The images must depict the true microstructure without any alteration from the original appearance.
- Entries to be submitted in the attached format only.
- Images must be submitted along with preparation details and significance in the prescribed format with name, address, email id, company affiliation and phone number,
- Metallographic Contest entries to be submitted only through the website using your individual login page
- The maximum file size accepted all categories 10 MB using the highest quality images regarding bit depth, file size, and resolution.
- The metallographic image file format must be in a JPEG (jpeg, jpg, jpe, jfif)), GIF (gif), TIFF (tif, tiff), BMP (bmp, dib), or PNG (png) format.
- Last date for Metallography Contest submission is 1st Oct 2026
- Metallography contest submitted entries will be printed and displayed by the organisers at the venue
