Metallography Contest

The contest features the best work of metallographers and microstructural analysts from metals and materials fraternity. Interested delegates may submit entries in one of the following categories:
  1. Light Microscopy
  2. Scanning Electron Microscopy
  3. Transmission Electron Microscopy
  4. Advanced Techniques (3D Tomography, APT, AFM, SPM, etc.)
The micrographs may be in colour or in black and white. Three prizes for best metallographs in each category will be awarded. Winners will be decided on the basis of micrograph image clarity, technical content and expertise of the technique. The contestants must carefully choose and specify the category of the entry. No reclassification will be done by the contestants afterwards.

Metallography Contest Rules

  • Only digitally captured images are permitted in all 4 categories
  • No more than two entries per individual (or team) per category will be accepted.
  • The images must depict true structures, which have not been significantly altered from their original appearance.
  • Entries to be submitted in the attached format only.
  • Images must be submitted along with preparation details and significance in the prescribed format with name, address, email id, company affiliation and phone number,
  • Metallographic Contest entries to be submitted only through the website using your individual login page
  • The maximum file size accepted all categories 10 MB using the highest quality images regarding bit depth, file size, and resolution.
  • The metallographic image file format must be in a JPEG (jpeg, jpg, jpe, jfif)), GIF (gif), TIFF (tif, tiff), BMP (bmp, dib), or PNG (png) format.
  • Last date for Metallography Contest submission is “To be Updated”
  • Metallography contest submitted entries will be printed and displayed by the organisers at the venue
  • Authors will be asked to explain the submissions during the event to the expert panel for award selection.
